Emerson Point - Native American History Quest and Temple Mound Nature/History Walk

Temple Mound Nature/History WalkThis activity leads students grades K-5 on a nature walk of the Temple Mound where they will be exposed to natural and cultural history.  Students will learn about eating history in Tampa Bay and Native American technology at Emerson Point.  Eating History, Technology, and Temple Mound walk sessions are 40 minutes maximum.   

History Quest:  In this activity, middle and high school students will learn about eating history in Tampa Bay.  They will investigate the interpretive signs and natural surroundings of the the Ceremonial Complex at Emerson Point, keeping in mind the history of Native Americans in the Tampa Bay area.  Students will understand the timeline of Native American cultures as it was affected by contact with Europeans in Florida.  

Arrive Emerson Point Park on Snead Island by 9:30
Complete activities by 12:00
May remain to picnic on the Temple Mound
