Discover how Florida's Native Americans used the environment to live. This field trip combines natural and cultural history and is perfect for Florida History curricula. Choose 3 activities from the list below:
  • Native Technology - students work in small groups to determine the use of the tool, then present to the group
  • Extreme Foods: Native American – plan a feast based on what is available to your tribe, then present to group
  • Nature and History Walk - incorporates both natural and cultural history of the site
  • Atlatl Antics - developed by the Florida Public Archaeology Network, students throw atlatls (spear throwers), includes math
  • Emerson Point Timeline - using a rope timeline, students plot points in history relevant to Emerson Point
